Wallonia-Brussels International and the Ministry of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation support the promotion of Belgian literature and books around the world. This support takes different forms:

Publishing Support: Translation and Rights Licensing
Wallonie-Bruxelles International (WBI) supports the international development of French-speaking Belgian publishing and the circulation of its books abroad.
In 2026, a new support scheme will be available through WBI. It will bring together, under a single scheme, the support previously provided for translation and rights licensing.
This funding will enable publishers from the Wallonia-Brussels Federation to support the translation and publication of their books abroad, in collaboration with an international publishing partner.
Eligibility criteria, application procedures, funding amounts and required documents will soon be available in French on the Wallonie-Bruxelles International website and in English on the Lisez-vous le belge? website.

Residence for translators
Each year in August, a residence welcomes translators from all over the world for a period ranging from two weeks to one month.
Located in the surroundings of the Château de Seneffe, just thirty minutes outside of Brussels, the residency offers participants an ideal environment to carry out their translation project.
The organisation of this residency is coordinated by Passa Porta, the International House of Literature in Brussels.
